Increased dosages of inhaled steroids don’t increase benefits for those with asthma

Inhaled corticosteroids are typically advised in case of early asthma complications.
According to some recent studies, one may enhance the normal quantity of inhaled steroids by eight times, but positive effects will be not enhanced under such circumstance. Ejaz Yousef, a doctor that has been involved in these studies, notes that if a health care provider observes that medical position of a patient worsens, he/she can indicate using oral steroids instead of increasing the measure of inhaled steroids. Enhancing the dosage of inhaled steroids is not without any undesirable symptom. This factor leads to different undesirable responses. For example, the hypothalamic-pituitary adrenal axis may be suppressed in such situation.  
Usage of inhaled corticosteroids was claimed to be alternative to taking oral medicines. It was in 1997. It was advised to prescribe inhaled steroids as alternatives of oral medicines which are useful for individuals with asthma exacerbations.
Then, certain researches have displayed that application of high dosages of inhaled steroids systematically doesn’t enhance positive effects.
Yousef and his colleagues have conducted a research that implicated almost 200 children of 2-17 years. These kids were treated with inhaled steroids during 3 months. They were chosen randomly for therapies for a period of 12 days. Any kid that suffered from asthma exacerbation was given inhaled steroids. Then the results were evaluated by the experts.
No any child who smoked, had symptoms of chronic asthma or lung pathology was implicated in the research.
Patients needed to inform about their adverse responses per telephone within 72 hours.  Thus, it was reported about cough during nighttime, wheeze, shortness of breath and intolerance  when it comes to exercises. Each response was evaluated according to a score that was ranged from 0 to 4. 0 meant no any sigh; 4 meant the most enhanced severity level.
Only 4 kids out of 82 the kids that were given enhanced doses of inhaled corticosteroids had to take systemic corticosteroids. Two2 of them were given doubled doses; others two were administering the dosage which was more increased by 8 times than a usual one.
According to the results of the study, usefulness of the preparations, placebo effect, supervision of doctors and treatment of persons during early stages of asthma exacerbation were responsible for acquiring positive results.
This as well as other studies demonstrate that not every story about steroids is related to abuse and administration of them as doping. Steroids are useable for many medical needs.
