Is steroid use moral issue in our hypocritical society?

Reporters frequently write articles about those that possess unnaturally enhanced muscles and endurance. Reading their affirmations, you can notice that those that apply steroids and/or other related medications are harshly demonized. Such individuals are criticized in the society. They are called “cheaters”. It is said that those that apply anabolic steroids for athletic purposes may become addicted to these preparations. A lot of articles also contain information linked with possible unwanted effects of steroids. Although some unwanted consequences occur in consumers of steroids, others are not proven scientifically. For example, it is widely reported about violent cases and murders committed by steroid users. It is considered that anabolic steroids may lead to uncontrolled behavior that results in crimes. However, so called “roid rage” linked with these medicines is claimed to be a controversial issue.
A lot of persons say that intake of steroids for enhancement of muscle mass and strength, hardening of muscles and fat burning is a moral issue. Let think! Is this statement free from hypocrisy? Why are only anabolic steroids blamed? Do just these preparations make the society unnatural? Let examine other aspects of the society! What do you think about sexual stimulants? It is affirmed that you should not suffer from sexual disorders, when there are appropriate medications to get rid of such problems. Furthermore, what do you think about products for anti-aging purposes? Why should you have evident wrinkles, if there are ways to hide your age? Models and actors take some medications but they are not named “cheaters”. Students take certain products for enhancement of their cognitive abilities. They are not demonized too. Certain scientists that have conducted some studies claim that those that apply steroids for increase of physical abilities are more harshly demonized than those that administer some products to enhance cognitive capacities. Is it fair?
As you see, our society is full of hypocrisy, ignorance and unfair accusations. May you demonize steroid users in this society? May you affirm that administration of steroids for performance-enhancing effects is a moral issue? Be real! If you start demonizing consumers of steroids, don’t forget about other aspects of life!
